Life happens—we’ve all been there. Traffic jams, dead car batteries, unexpected work meetings, or a sick kid needing pickup from school. I get it; I truly do. Even with all the sympathy in the world, if you cancel your massage appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, the cancellation fee will still apply. Let me explain why.
THE CANCELLATION POLICY: CLEAR AND FAIR
When you book a massage, you agree to a clear cancellation policy: appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a charge. This policy is displayed on my website, booking page, confirmation emails, and intake form—you even sign off on it. There’s no confusion, but sometimes, unexpected things happen.
“CAN YOU MAKE AN EXCEPTION JUST THIS ONCE?”
I often hear requests for exceptions:“My car broke down.”“I woke up sick.”“My cat got abducted by aliens.”
While it may seem harmless to ask, granting exceptions sets a precedent. If I made an exception for one person, I’d need to do it for everyone. Imagine 40–50 new clients per year all asking for a “one-time” exception—that would be a huge financial loss and could jeopardize my business.
It’s not about a lack of empathy; it’s about fairness and sustainability. If I don’t charge for missed appointments, I absorb the cost. This isn’t just a business policy—it’s a matter of survival for a small, woman-owned business.
WHY YOU’D ACCEPT IT ELSEWHERE
Let me paint a picture:
Earlier this year, my husband and I spent $700 on tickets to a music festival we’d been dreaming of attending. But as the date got closer, I realized I had a conflict with work. We tried selling the tickets—even at a discounted price—but no one wanted them. We couldn’t even give them away.
In the end, we were out $700. Was it frustrating? Of course. But we accepted it because we understood the festival organizers weren’t responsible for our schedule conflict.
The money from your massage session may be much less than $700, but it’s just as important—it keeps my business running and supports my family. Supporting small businesses means respecting the policies that keep them afloat.
IT’S ABOUT MUTUAL RESPECT
When you book an appointment, I organize my day around you. I show up for your session fully prepared and focused, honoring your time and commitment. If I ever have to cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, your next session is on me—because I value the effort you’ve made to prioritize your appointment.
All I ask is for the same respect in return. Emergencies happen, and I genuinely feel for you when they do, but honoring the cancellation policy is what allows me to continue doing the work I love
Thank you for understanding, respecting my time, and supporting a small, local business! ❤️
